You must overnight at Aswan the day before the tour as the tour starts very early in the morning. We recommend that you make the tour by Car. Abu Simbel Temples are located in Abu Simbel village in Nubia near the border with Sudan at the western bank of Lake Nasser about 300 km southwest of Aswan City. Abu Simbel Temples were originally carved out of the mountainside in the era of the Pharaoh Ramesses II. It was dedicated to register the Victory of the King Ramesses II at the Battle of Kadesh. When Egypt deiced to build the High Dam, Abu Simbel Temples were among the Monuments that would be merged by the lake Nasser. So, with the help of the UNESCO, the complex was relocated entirety in 1968 on an artificial hill made from a domed structure, high above the Aswan High Dam reservoir.

Abu Simbel Temples consist of two Temples. The Great Temple and the Small Temple. The Great Temple took about twenty years to be built. It was dedicated to the gods Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah, as well as to the deified Rameses himself. It is generally considered the grandest and most beautiful of the temples commissioned during the reign of Ramesses II, and one of the most beautiful in Egypt. One of the Miracle of this Temple is that the axis of the temple was positioned by the ancient Egyptian architects in such a way that on October 22 and February 22, the rays of the sun would penetrate the sanctuary and illuminate the sculptures on the back wall, except for the statue of Ptah, a god connected with the Egyptian underworld, who always remained in the dark. People gather at Abu Simbel on these days to witness this. It is believed that those dates are the date the Pharaohs was born and the Date that the pharaoh was Crowned as a King.
