A private guided tour of the Luxor West Bank — the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings, the terraced Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, and the towering Colossi of Memnon. Included in our Nile cruise packages, or from $70 per person as a Luxor day tour.

4 Hours Private Tour Luxor West Bank 👑 Royal Tombs
This West Bank tour is already included in our 3-night and 4-night Nile cruise packages, so if you are sailing with us you will visit these sites as part of your cruise — this page is mainly for booking it as a standalone Luxor day tour. The tombs and temples sit on the open desert plateau, so it can be very hot and shadeless; closed shoes, a hat, sun protection and water are essential, and mornings are the coolest and least crowded. The special tombs of Tutankhamun, Seti I and Nefertari, and photography inside the tombs, usually need separate tickets bought on site.

Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon — Overview

Across the Nile from Luxor lies the West Bank of ancient Thebes — the land of the dead, where for five centuries the pharaohs of Egypt's golden age were laid to rest. This tour gathers its three greatest monuments into a single private morning.

In the Valley of the Kings, hidden in a desert valley beneath the pyramid-shaped peak of al-Qurn, more than sixty rock-cut tombs were carved for the rulers of the New Kingdom — among them Tutankhamun, Seti I and the Ramesside pharaohs. Their corridors plunge deep into the rock, walls ablaze with the painted texts and star-strewn ceilings of the Egyptian afterlife, as vivid today as when they were sealed three thousand years ago.

A short drive away, the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut rises in three great colonnaded terraces straight out of the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari — a masterpiece of ancient architecture built for the most powerful woman ever to rule Egypt, its walls carved with her divine birth and her famous trading expedition to the fabled Land of Punt. The morning ends before the Colossi of Memnon, two eighteen-metre enthroned statues of Amenhotep III that once guarded the largest temple in all of Egypt, and that the Greeks and Romans travelled from across the ancient world to hear "sing" at dawn.
